23 August 2018: The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ of Canberra has named its squad for the opening tournament of the 2018 ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Sevens Series in Hobart this weekend.
Sammie Wood will wear the captain’s armband in round one. Wood has spent time with the Australian 15-a-side squad since starring for the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ last year.
American enforcer Abby Gustaitis has returned for a second season and will feature this weekend. She helped the USA 7s team to a fourth-place finish at the Rugby World Cup Sevens last month.
Yasmin Meakes will return to the competition where it all began. Meakes earned a national jersey after impressing for the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ during the inaugural series in 2017 and is now on a full-time contract.
Meanwhile, Brumbies Super W product Jane Garraway is poised to make her ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ debut.
The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ of Canberra has been placed in Pool B and will face the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ of New England, Griffith ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ, Bond ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ and the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ of Sydney.
